The OSU Sailing Team meets for practices three times per week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at Hoover Sailing Club between the hours of 4:30pm and 7:30pm. During the Autumn semester these hours incrementally decrease as the sun begins to set earlier in the day. During practice OSU sailors have the opportunity to participate in races against other teammates, the Denison Sailing Team, and the Granville High School Sailing Team. In addition, sailors practice racing techniques such as roll-tacking, mark rounding, starts, downwind racing, and “tacking on the whistle.” These practices are vital as they allow our sailors to learn proper sail trim, weight & balance techniques, and help skippers and crew to connect prior to competitions.
