The Ohio State University Sailing Team relies on membership dues and your donations to continue the legacy established in 1939. Membership dues and donations go toward funding travel to regattas and maintaining our current fleet of 420 and FJ sailboats at Hoover Sailing Club. If you are considering donating to the team, please contact Fundraising Chair Olivia ‘Olive’ Kruczynska at [email protected] to discuss the ways in which your financial support can help our team as we seek to reinvigorate the competitive edge as seen in previous classes.

On average The Ohio State University Sailing Team participates in four regattas during the spring semester and ten regattas in the fall semester. Costs associated with regattas include: fuel, regatta fees, and supplementary housing arrangements. In addition, in recent years the team has increased participation in large boat regattas which correspond to higher regatta fees and transportation costs. For a more detailed breakdown of the costs associated with regattas and the competitive goals of the team, please contact Fleet Captains Sydney Disalvo at [email protected] and Steven Neveadomi at [email protected]

By far the most expensive aspect of maintaining a sailing team is the maintenance associated with our fleet of FJs and 420s. Until now, much of our fleet consisted of FJ sailboats from the mid-eighties and required many new parts and patchwork to keep running efficiently. As sails wear and tear, new one must be purchased. A large portion of donations will be contributed to help fund the maintenance of our fleet which sees use three times per week and over the summer by Hoover Sailing Club. For a more detailed breakdown of boat maintenance costs and projected annual costs, please contact Vice Commodore Noah Brush at [email protected]

In order to maintain an effective and competitive team: it is important that a new generation of sailors be energized and trained to take over the team as each graduating class departs. Ohio State University contains a vast student body in which new members may be recruited, however, resources such as time and money are required to reach these students. Our current recruitment efforts are centered around awareness of our Learn To Sail program, tabling involvement fairs, fundraising events across campus, and social events in which all OSU students are invited to participate. Please reach out to Recruitment & Alumni Relations Chair Emileigh Bechtolt at [email protected] for more information on upcoming recruitment events

Your contributions will go toward helping us to remain competitive, functional on the water, and will aid us in our search for the future of the team. Please consider donating today to support the continuation of a great legacy and opportunity available to the OSU student body.

Please contact THE CURRENT FUNDRAISING CHAIR OLIVIA KRUCZYNSKA AT [email protected] to arrange for a donation via cash, Cheque, Venmo, Paypal, or to discuss sponsorship opportunities.
